Experiences

South Ari Atoll

Swim with whale sharks

The biggest fish in the sea cruises the reefs of South Ari all year round. Our crew spots them from the boat, then we slip in quietly and swim alongside.

  • Year-roundsightings in South Ari
  • Snorkel or diveno experience needed to snorkel
  • Respectful distanceno touching, no flash

Beneath the surface

Reefs you can reach in minutes

Our boat crew grew up on these atolls. They know which reef is calm on a windy morning, when the mantas come in to clean, and where turtles rest at midday.

  • Mask, snorkel and fins provided — life jackets for every guest
  • Guide in the water with every group
  • Beginner-friendly shallow lagoons, or drift snorkels for the confident
  • We follow reef-safe practice: no touching, no feeding, no chasing

Travel FAQ

Can't find your question? Send us a message — we answer every one.

Do I need a visa for the Maldives?

Visitors of every nationality receive a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival. You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 months, a confirmed booking and a return ticket. You must also complete the online IMUGA traveller declaration within 96 hours before arriving.

When is the best time to visit?

The dry northeast monsoon runs roughly December to April — calm seas and lots of sun. May to November is wetter and breezier, but often brings better prices, and it's the main season for manta rays on the western side of the atolls.

What should I know about staying on a local island?

Local islands are home to Maldivian communities. Alcohol isn't available, and outside designated "bikini beaches" guests should cover shoulders and knees. In return you get real island life, local food, and much lower prices than resorts.

Can you do private trips?

Yes. Any excursion can be booked as a private boat for your group — couples, families and big groups are all welcome.

What if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first. If the captain decides the sea isn't suitable, we'll move your trip to another day or give you a full refund for that excursion.

How do I pay?

We confirm the price with you in writing first. US dollars and Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR) are both accepted; we'll share payment details when your booking is confirmed.
